Discover the gastronomic culture of Cambrils

Days and activities dedicated to Mediterranean cuisine are held throughout the year in this town on the Costa Daurada.

The Mediterranean coast is famous for its links with healthy cuisine, with dishes prepared with local products of great gastronomic value. It is common to find events dedicated to this type of cuisine all along the Costa Daurada, and Cambrils holds several events to highlight the value of local products.

These are celebrations in which local restaurants and establishments offer menus specially designed around a specific product or season. Throughout the year, Cambrils hosts several of these gastronomic days, the main aim of which is to show the value of Mediterranean cuisine and local products to visitors.

The month of La Galera

It is held for almost the whole month of February and, as its name suggests, is dedicated to this crustacean typical of the Costa Daurada area. Cambrils is the birthplace of great chefs, precisely because the town is home to the School of Hotel Management and Tourism, where chefs and restaurateurs are trained.

To commemorate this occasion, the restaurants of Cambrils are preparing special menus in which the galley is the main ingredient, although great importance is also given to the seafood cuisine typical of fishing villages such as Cambrils.

Tourists, visitors and locals can try unique dishes specially prepared for the occasion, and can also enjoy cultural activities organised by organisations such as the Fishermen’s Guild and the Cambrils Museum.

Encarxofa’t

During the second half of March, Cambrils becomes the birthplace of the artichoke, as this is when this vegetable is in season. The artichoke is a product that is particularly appreciated in Mediterranean cuisine and this event aims to show visitors the gastronomic value and versatility of the artichoke.

Local restaurants prepare menus that revolve around the artichoke as an ingredient that links seafood and mountain dishes. During Encarxofa’t you can discover the many uses of this vegetable in Mediterranean cuisine.

Romesco Gastronomic Days

These days are celebrated during most of the month of May and are dedicated to this typical local sauce made with garlic, tomato, ñora, oil and dried fruits and nuts. Although there are dishes that typically always include Romesco, it is a versatile sauce that can be adapted to many flavours.

For this reason, during the Romesco Gastronomic Days, several restaurants in Cambrils present unique dishes and menus built around this typical sauce. To complete the gastronomic offer, several local businesses offer promotions during the days.

Wine Country

At the beginning of October, Cambrils hosts a varied exhibition of wineries, cooperatives and wine designations of origin. As in the other wine fairs held in the towns of the province of Tarragona, the main objective is to offer visitors a wide range of wines and cavas from various areas of the territory.

To complete the wine offer, which is spread out on shelves around the Parc del Pescador, there are also shelves with typical food and local products, and live musical performances to liven up the evening for all visitors.

New oil days

From the end of October until mid-November, Cambrils offers visitors a wide variety of olive oils. As well as being a great opportunity to appreciate this highly prized product of Mediterranean gastronomy, the days are an ideal event to explore the cuisine of Cambrils and its relationship with olive oil. Several restaurants offer oil tastings and special menus during the days.

The Cambrils gastronomic days are only part of the great culinary offer that tourists and visitors can find in the area. Cambrils has a large number of quality restaurants dedicated to seafood and Mediterranean cuisine, with price ranges to suit all tastes and top quality products.
