Sant Pere festival, Cambrils

Sant Pere festival, Cambrils

As is traditional, the Festa Major will begin on the evening of 23 June with the arrival of the Canigó flame at the Parc del Pescador. This is Cambrils’ most seafaring festival, full of maritime activities, concerts, fireworks, fun and tradition.

The Festa Major de Sant Pere opens the door to the summer and the most festive season in Cambrils, which starts in June and does not stop until September. Every year, Cambrils Town Council and the festive organisations prepare an extensive programme that fills the streets and squares with activities for all tastes and ages from 23 June to 2 July.

Highlights include the Diada de Sant Pere, with the participation of the elements of the popular procession; the traditional singing of havaneres, the popular llaguts regattas, the Sant Pere festival and the Fiesta del Aparejo (Rigging Festival), with lateen sailing and traditional fishing. The youngsters will have their own party on the Regueral beach, a party that year after year fills the beach with party music and pachanga to dance the night away.

Cambrils celebrates three major festivals throughout the year. The first one corresponds to the Mare de Déu del Camí (8th September), patron saint of all the people of Cambrils and to whom fishermen and sailors had great devotion because of her protection against the dangers of the sea. The other two main festivals are dedicated to the patron saints of the corresponding parishes: the one in the town is the Immaculada (celebrated on 8th December) and the one on the beach is for Sant Pere and is celebrated every year around 23rd June, in the streets, squares and beaches of the fishing village of Cambrils.
