National Archaeological Museum, Tarragona
To learn about the history of the capital of the most important province in Hispania, there is nothing better than a visit to the National Archaeological Museum of Tarragona, where we will get to know the city through its archaeological elements, sculptures and other valuable remains.
It is next to the Roman circus where we find the Archaeological Museum of Tarragona created in the first half of the 19th century. It is one of the oldest museums in Catalonia and one of the best valued in terms of recovery and dissemination of the Roman past, a perfect place for history and archeology lovers.
The museum has several rooms in which a large number of objects and works of art are exhibited from excavations in the city and around Imperial Tarraco. During the visit we will enjoy sculptures, mosaics, architecture, ceramics, domestic and military utensils, amphoras, clothing, funerary objects, coins and remains of other finds from Roman Tarragona. Many of these pieces come from important monumental areas of the city such as the theater, the circus, the amphitheater or the forum.
