Mas del Botó Winery, Tarragona

Mas del Botó is a winemaking estate located in the Cortiella Valley, in the municipality of Alforja, in the Baix Camp region. It spans over 40 hectares, with 5 hectares dedicated to vine cultivation, a tradition that the Llauradó brothers, with a long history in winemaking, reclaimed 30 years ago. The landscape of the Cortiella Valley is breathtaking, and so are its historical events.

Facing the area of Porrera (Priorat), there are written references dating back to the 12th century, specifically in the donation charter of the Alforja area from Ramon Berenguer IV, Count of Barcelona, to Ramón de Ganagot, in gratitude for the services rendered in the conquest of the Valiato de Siurana.

Ganagot is precisely the name of the premium wine brand produced at Mas del Botó. In the Valley, there are remnants of mining activities, including silver from the Roman and Arab eras, as well as lead and iron mining activities until the late 1960s.

The wines are red, with great aromatic intensity and personality, and the ability to age well in the bottle, both the ones aged in oak barrels (Ganagot) and those that do not go through barrels (Mas del Botó). The latest addition has been the production of a sweet wine (Dolça de Ganagot) in the style of “vimblanc,” made from dried Garnacha grapes in the vineyard, without fortification with alcohol, and aged in demijohns under the sun.
